.....Student-athletes don’t sign up to be ridiculed by those lacking perspective or compassion. That’s especially true of black athletes who are often a source of revenue for the NCAA and their school. To be fair, professionals don’t sign up for the abuse either, but at least they are compensated with salaries that begin at six figures. College athletes are just trying to play the sport that they love while getting an education........Liddell shouldn’t have to deal with the anger and hate. He should be praised for having the courage to share what he and others have experienced. He should be focusing on how he can improve as a player, considering his college and pro options and studying for whatever exam he might have this week.
In his spare time, his focus should drift to those experiences that other college students embrace as normal day-to-day college routines.....
