It’s an added burden many didn’t have to deal with 10, 15, 20 plus years ago and it’s the various approaches to those nasty social media posts that allow these athletes to get through it. “If you can block that out it can have an effect on your mental health, positively. I’ve seen with a few of our players that come in and are thinking about what people think about them at home, like they don’t come in and play as a freshman. Oh man, people back at home think this about me, no, you got to go through the process. Because those same people that are thinking about you in this light right now, when you hit junior, senior year and you’re striving, you’re all-conference, imagine what they’ll be saying then,” UTC football player Torrez Finney said...... Bethany`s Notes: So much on social media is comments (whether good or bad) from outsiders. Athletes have very little ability to defend themselves as they watch people talk about them. Let`s empathize a little more and speak positivity about learning how to fail well. | ||
