Nevada women`s basketball adds a focus on mental health this offseason


.....“Our name for it is ‘Protect our Pack,” Levens said. “Every week we’ve had one session. We’ve done healthy relationships, drug and alcohol education, distress management, emotional regulation, peak performance with a sports psychologist.”....
....“A lot of the athletes we’re coaching now struggle a little with coping skills and how to handle failure and that’s what this girl Maddy dealt with,” Levens said. “She was struggling for the first time in her life. Everything had always been easy, in school and with whatever sport she played. She went to college and she wasn’t the best at things and that was hard. How do you deal with it when all of a sudden you’re not the best? How do you keep fighting to become the best again? With us having six freshmen, they were all the best players on their team, all the best on their club team and then they come here and they’re another player that’s just good. How do you handle that?”....
