.....“I just started to work harder and train my body to absolute fatigue,” he said. “I got over-trained, that’s what they called it, and then I developed this depression and anxiety where I didn’t even want to get out of bed. It was kind of debilitating.”

Valerio’s life in North Carolina was baseball. It was like the old saying: He ate, slept and breathed baseball. It burnt him out. Valerio wasn’t prioritizing his life. There wasn’t a support group at this new school.

There wasn’t a hobby or activity to detox from the stresses of baseball and school. Baseball, his love since childhood, became his greatest vice.....
