Consequently, the athletic trainer must be able to recognize mental illness, make the appropriate referral to a mental health specialist, be involved with treatment, and serve as the conduit between athlete and coach.....

Bethany`s Notes: Would you know the signs of mental illness as a coach, teammate, or parent? The more eyes on a team and its members the better for everyone involved. Have an open door policy for athletes to come by and talk about whatever is on their mind. Give them the freedom to share their thoughts...
